HELL AT WAT PNOV
The Buddha may have infinite compassion, but believers know the horrors of hell and the endless torture that awaits sinners when their karma rebounds. Constructed in 2020, this garden of hellish delights found at Wat Pnov, east of the Sanker River in Battambang, showcases the power of Yama, the god of hell. The punishments are recorded in horrific three-dimensional concrete—self-mutilation with spikey cudgels, infant and self-cannibalism, and enormous penises of adulterers whom demons force to climb a giant cactus. Nearby, within the wat, is another garden of dinosaurs and animals that are exotic to Cambodia. I have to thank Mr Wab of Kor Krang Village in Siem Reap, to nosing me to this discovery, and reconsider my own virtuous lifestyle
